December 2025 Honoree
Stephany Manzo, BSN
I loved Stefany so much. The care she showed me as my nurse felt beyond genuine. It felt like she just cared. Sometimes, when someone is being paid to care for you, it’s hard to feel like they actually care. I never once had that thought with Stefany. She is such an amazing person and nurse. She is clearly a natural caretaker and in the right profession. I can’t imagine the number of people she has helped and how many lives she has and will continue to change just by being herself and being here at Evanston Hospital. I felt really bad because I was vomiting and I made a bit of a mess, and she comforted me and made me feel beyond safe in her presence. She took her time administering meds, and when I said something about my care and my body, she took me at my word because she trusted me to know myself. She advocated for me with the care team even before I asked her to. She anticipated my needs before I knew they even existed, which is incredible. She just… she’s an amazing nurse. She deserves so much recognition and gratitude. I didn’t have anything life-threatening going on; my story isn’t crazy or filled with drama. It’s just that I was a sick person having a hard time & my nurse made me feel safe, loved, and cared for. It’s all any of us can ask for in the hospital.
Thank you, Stephany, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
