One early morning, Stephen received a patient into one of his rooms that had fallen in the parking garage. She was on her way to ORMC to see her husband, an inpatient at ORMC, whose status was declining. While the patient was pretty banged up, all she cared about was getting to see her husband. Stephen explained what was going on and what was needed before the patient and her daughter could go see her husband. Thanks to Stephen calling and facilitating movement so the patient could be seen faster, all labs, x-rays and a CT were done quickly. After everything was completed and he was given the "ok" by the providers he wheeled the patient up to her husband's room. While the results were pending, she was able to see her husband for a few minutes. The family was so appreciative of all of this and I know it meant the world to the patient. His compassion, empathy and the selflessness he showed toward this patient and her family speaks volumes about his character and patient first attitude.
