Stephen, without a second thought, offered to go and lock the patient’s home for him and with the patient’s consent grab his dentures so that he would be able to eat and speak easier while in the hospital.
There are numerous occasions that Stephen has gone above and beyond for his patients. In particular, I would like to discuss the most recent positive experience a patient received because of Stephen. This patient was very ill and needed to be admitted for further treatment. The patient was in distress about being admitted, because he was an elderly man who lived alone. He was brought in by the squad in the middle of the night. When patients are brought in like this, the last thing on their mind at the time is locking their home in case they do not come right back home, or grabbing their personal care items. Well, this gentleman was willing to leave against medical advice and risk his health because of his concerns of leaving his home unlocked and his personal items at home (such as his dentures that he needed to eat and speak better). Stephen, without a second thought, offered to go and lock the patient’s home for him and with the patient’s consent grab his dentures so that he would be able to eat and speak easier while in the hospital. This patient was very grateful and proceeded to tell me that he was treated like a king during his visit because of Stephen’s kind gesture and willingness to help this gentleman. Ultimately, this act of kindness in the end saved this very sick gentleman’s life, because the man was then willing to get admitted and continue with the care that was needed.
