July 2026 Honoree
Stephen Strom, RN
It is my pleasure to submit Stephen Strom for this award on behalf of the interdisciplinary Parenteral Nutrition (PN) Team.
Steve joined the PN Team in August of 2025. Prior to that time, we did not have a dedicated nurse as a member of our team. We recognized that providing education to our patients discharging home with PN was a major gap in our existing structure and would provide a significant safety benefit to patients who are discharging home on a very complex medication that requires significant skill to manage safely and effectively.
Steve jumped into this role enthusiastically, designing education modules, creating reference documents to provide to patients, documenting his interventions in the electronic medical record, and spending time and energy ensuring that patients and caregivers are adequately prepared to leave the hospital with PN therapy for the first time.
Steve is incredibly patient and caring. He spends time getting to know patients and their families, addressing their questions, and ensuring that they are comfortable and confident with this complex therapy.
Steve works very closely with both our inpatient and outpatient branches of our Parenteral Nutrition Team. He values the input of others and has incorporated new features into his education practices based on the needs of patients.
He is exceptionally organized and thorough and serves as a role model in this position.
We are so thankful that he has joined our team and know that patients are benefiting from his years of experience and expertise in infusion therapy and line care.
