He was empathetic, caring and constantly checked on my dad and my family to see if we needed anything at all. He was a true comfort to us during what would be my dad’s last hours with us.
This nomination is long overdue. My 92-year-old father was admitted to the Community Heart and Vascular Hospital on Shadeland Avenue on the evening of Tuesday, after suffering a heart attack. He was eventually moved to a room during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

He eventually passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. From the time that he was moved to his room until the moment he passed, his care was extraordinary. From the physical therapists to the palliative care doctor, everyone treated my father, mother, sister, and me with respect and compassion.

In particular, my family would like to recognize this RN. He provided my father with the very best of care during his time in his unit. He was empathetic, caring and constantly checked on my dad and my family to see if we needed anything at all. He was a true comfort to us during what would be my dad’s last hours with us. Even as my dad was passing, this RN was very calm and did his best to manage my dad’s pain.

We would have preferred that my dad had been at home when he left us, but that could not be helped. Having him supporting us all day and providing my dad with the best comfort and care was extremely soothing to all of us.

I am so very thankful that this RN helped my dad the best that he could. He was in excellent hands all day and I cannot thank your facility or RN enough for making that day just a little bit easier.
