Stepheny really has a way with her that calmed me down. I knew my mom was safe and well cared for.
I wanted to let you know how perfect the staff has been in the care of my mother. Everyone has been just so good and I wish I could remember everyone’s name. One nurse really stood out to me. Her name is Stepheny. I am an only child and we do not have my father around anymore. I get so scared and anxious leaving my mom in the hospital by herself but I can’t stay all the time with her. Stepheny must have sensed I was frightened because she stayed in the room, talked to my mom and me, and told us what was going on and what would be going on for the rest of her shift. I know she had to be busy because I had seen her and the other staff going from one room to another. She never acted rushed and made me feel like she felt my mom was her only patient. It was as if my mom was her mom. She touched her arm when talking and my mom was relaxed as well. Even though they were busy, everyone was polite and kind. I will say that every time I saw Stepheny she had a smile. It is hard to see with a mask but you can tell. She really has a way with her that calmed me down. I knew my mom was safe and well cared for and that made it okay for me to go home and take a shower and a nap.

I know that everything is crazy in our world today with COVID and nurses don’t get the credit they deserve. Stepheny needs a lot of credit. She took the time to listen and not just tell us it would be okay but I believed and knew it would all be okay. You can’t teach that. That is a person doing her job from her heart not just her brain. I don’t wish us to come back after mom is discharged but if we do can, we come back here.
