Stevie might say she was just doing her job, but she was doing more than that. She was providing peace in the middle of our storm.
Stevanie, aka “Stevie,” was a breath of fresh air and took care of my dad like he was her own grandpa. Stevie was very gentle as she moved him around and gave him his medicines and other treatments. With a smile on her face, she always asked us if there was anything we needed at all and to let her know. We knew she meant it wholeheartedly.

Fast forward a few months, and my dad began having seizures. We called 911, and they brought him back to the hospital. They were able to get the seizures under control. But since he hadn’t shown any signs of improvement from his brain injury, they informed us it might be his time. Again, we received amazing help from the doctors, nurses, and techs from the ICU and respiratory. They sent us to the 5th floor, where Stevie was, and again continued to care for my dad.

She remembered him from the last time and helped answer all the questions my mom and the rest of my family had. She checked in on us even when we weren’t part of her rotation that shift. Stevie might say she was just doing her job, but she was doing more than that. She was providing peace in the middle of our storm. She represented the best of people during the worst situation. For that and so much more, we will always and truly be grateful.

Thank you once more, and God bless you, Stevie. We finished strong!
