Steve is caring, compassionate, vigilant, smart, and kind.
1st Nomination
I want to nominate Steve for not one specific act of kindness, but for him, plain and simply, reflecting what it means to be a great nurse. I see him often when I am on the floor to test patients. He is so pleasant, friendly, and always has a smile for his patients and coworkers.

He would never say "I don't have time right now" when asked for help from patients or coworkers. He listens to his patients and is always trying to make them feel at ease. I don't think he is even aware of all the nice things he does; he is just doing it tirelessly, shift after shift.

2nd Nomination
He is always helpful, caring, and always makes the people that come in contact with him have a better day. I have been working here at this hospital for 3 years and have never encountered Mr. Steve without a bright smile on his face. I can imagine that he makes his patients feel so safe and encouraged to heal and go home. Steve is really a bright light from heaven!

3rd Nomination
Steve demonstrates kindness and compassion towards the patients and colleagues. Steve is committed to providing the best quality care to our patients and is very supportive of the AscensionRX team.

4th Nomination
Compassionate, problem solver, dedicated.

5th Nomination
My father is an inpatient on the fourth floor at St. Vincent's Southside in Jacksonville, Florida. For several days, he has been fortunate enough to have Steve as his nurse. Steve is caring, compassionate, vigilant, smart, and kind. He is always approachable if we have a question, and he is quick to help and to offer advice and guidance.

One specific example of his vigilance was today. He came on shift and came into my dad‘s room to give morning medication. He immediately noticed that my dad was not using his left arm at all and questioned him about it. It was because his arm was bothering him from an accidental artery stick while he was in the ICU, but Steve looked at it and made sure it was fine, and told him not to worry about it and that he really needed him to use his left arm so that it could get stronger. I hadn’t noticed that he wasn’t even using that arm, but the fact that Steve did notice and made sure it wasn’t because of something more serious, like stroke symptoms, makes me so thankful to have him on the job!

Additionally, having a family member in the hospital is difficult on the family, but I was so relieved anytime I saw Steve there, especially if Steve was his nurse! But even if he was not my father's nurse for the day, he would stop me in the hall to ask how my father was doing. That is truly the actions of someone who genuinely cares! He always offers us a drink and says to let him know if we need anything, too. So he’s taking care of the whole family, not just a patient! I have had several family members each tell me excitedly when Steve is the nurse!

Our whole family recognizes the above-and-beyond care he provides. I’m afraid that my dad will be transferred to a rehab center before we get the chance to tell Steve how much we appreciate his care and dedication. We hold nothing but heartfelt thanks and heartfelt gratitude to him.
