I cannot thank them enough for the immaculate bedside manner, professionalism, caring, compassion, and empathy they showed to my daughter.
I brought my 25-year-old daughter, J into the ER in Kent Island last night after waiting in Easton's ER (they had a 3-hour wait). J is 13 weeks pregnant with her first child and has been having issues holding food and drink down. Upon arriving at Kent Island, the staff there was SO pleasant, even the security guy was pleasant. Upon going to her room, we were greeted by her nurse Steven (he's an RN). Steven's "vibe" entering the room was so welcoming and pleasant. As a mom, his "vibe" took a little of the worrying off of me. Steven was very attentive to J, assuring her and me that everything was going to be okay. He explained step by step what was happening and what was going to happen.

When the doctor arrived in the room, I was blown away that he was so nice and caring. I was in awe of how nice and caring these two men were to my daughter. The doctor asked questions that other doctors didn't ask my daughter in an attempt to get to the root of the problem. Steven connected J to the IV and explained how long it would take. In visits to other facilities, the nurse would leave and not come back for hours. Not Steven! It was as if he had it timed. As the first bag ran out, Steven was walking through the door to give J instructions on what was going to happen next.

One can imagine the nervousness of a first-time mom going through this. J was terrified; however, Steven and the doctor made her feel so welcomed and assured her that she and the baby will be fine. I have read articles as to how African American women in the U.S. healthcare treatment during pregnancies is insufficient. Not on Steven this doctor's watch!!! These two gentlemen crossed every T and dotted every i. I cannot thank them enough for the immaculate bedside manner, professionalism, caring, compassion, and empathy they showed to my daughter.

Steven’s professionalism is how ALL nurses should respond to patients. There are not enough words in Webster's dictionary to explain how impressed and thankful I am for Steven and this doctor caring for my pregnant daughter. Thank you, Steven, from the bottom of our hearts, you made a difference!
