Steve showed not only myself and my husband great emotional support and security, but I also observed him going above and beyond for other patients.
My husband has a complicated health history beginning with a shot gun injury when he was 15 that took the use of his right arm. He also has Parkinson’s that came on late in life. In 2022, my husband was admitted to this unit due to several falls with injury. Steve was on that unit at the time and remembered him and myself when he was recently admitted again to the unit. Steve is totally engaged in his patient’s well-being. He listens to his patients and even though my husband was showing signs of dementia, he was treated with dignity and respect, even when you could not understand what he was saying. Steve showed not only myself and my husband great emotional support and security, but I also observed him going above and beyond for other patients. I am so thankful for nurses like him. I have spent my life working as an HR officer looking for people like Steve to care for our patients and their families. DCH found a great one in him!
