My Godmother was traveling to Florida for vacation. It was a long drive, so they decided to stop in Walterboro, SC. My Godmother was having a diabetic emergency, and her health started to decline rapidly. My grandmother called 911, and a rescue squad took my Godmother to Colleton initially, but due to the severity, they med-flighted her to Trident Medical Center.

From Early Sunday morning until Tuesday morning, the ICU staff, including nurses, doctors, and neurosurgeons, were absolutely amazing to my Godmother and me. Steven stood out the most. Steven was her nurse initially, and any time there was a beep, Steven was hustling to tend to it and make sure nothing was amiss. When my Godmother left the ICU, he wished her and us well and made sure we did not need anything in the world, and told us to let him know if we did.

I have never seen more compassion and top-notch care. When he explained things to us, he made sure we understood and always asked if we had questions. We had many questions due to the circumstances, and he never seemed annoyed but answered them in a helpful manner. I will forever be grateful for the warm smiles, compassionate care, and support he provided in one of our family’s emergencies.

Thank you, Steven, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
