His leadership, I believe, helps mold nurses and fosters an environment that makes people from other units want to work here.
When I'd gotten accepted into the ICU, I was a mixture of excited and terrified. The first thing that came to mind was, 'God-- I hope I don't mess up.' Long story short, 2025 had a lot more in store for me than worrying about a career in the ICU-- I lost my father, my best friend, in March. I cannot emphasize enough how much it meant to me to have a manager who actually cared about me during this exceptionally painful time. Not a casual 'hey, how's everything going?' but actually taking me to the side, offering his time, and genuinely caring about how I was.

Mr. Schneider is the most approachable, kindest, compassionate, and graceful manager I've ever been fortunate to have. It's agreed upon by my coworkers and me-- he truly, truly cares. We're not just numbers, staff, or bodies —we are valued and considered. Yes, Mr. Schneider is an impeccable leader who looks out for his staff and puts us first-- but our unit also feels like a democracy, where our opinions actually matter and are considered. I've never seen a manager encourage staff to implement doctoral research studies in the unit —he is not only supportive, but I also think he is someone who can move this hospital forward. His leadership, I believe, helps mold nurses and fosters an environment that makes people from other units want to work here —and even decide to come to Methodist instead of other institutions. I feel like I'm finally recognized and surrounded by a work family that truly cares about me, and if it weren't for that, I don't know where I'd be today.

Mr. Schneider is someone you can vent to, laugh with, and discuss your concerns with, and he doesn't reduce you to your errors-- he is very much someone who believes that everyone is capable of their best and can learn from their mistakes. Again, I cannot stress enough how safe I feel in this unit, which is a lot to say for an ICU! I am simply eternally grateful to this amazing human being, and I hope he receives the recognition he deserves.
