My nurse Steven just potentially saved my life. This morning, while running a routine examination he noticed that I had an infection on my toe. I am scheduled for surgery this coming week and he took action notifying the surgeon and having them take a look. The surgeon saw my foot and decided to postpone the surgery and have an infection specialist and a podiatrist deal with the foot first. She went on to describe how a simple infection like that can really be bad for the replacement heart valve that she will be installing into my heart and told me that without Steven's attention to detail, I may have had disastrous results.
Steven is a diligent and caring nurse and I am glad that I am under his care and feel grateful that he took the time to perform his duties so carefully. I had thought that the staff here knew about the infection and it had never occurred to me how dangerous the situation was. I cannot praise Steven highly enough.
