This nomination is for our Stroke Center leaders who together have over 30 years of experience as neuroscience nurses acting as clinical experts, educators, and program coordinators. They have advanced our Stroke Center in collaboration with a large multidisciplinary team that includes physician specialties such as vascular neurology, neurosurgery, neurocritical care, interventional neurology, and radiology, Stroke Center medical directors, pharmacy, nurses from nearly all areas at HHS, OT, PT, SLP, coders, radiology leaders, and quality specialists. Due to this team, we treat over 80% of patients in less than 60 minutes compared to the national average of 59%. We ensure our specialized team members are available to stroke patients 24/7. They have led our certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV GL. And, once again, we received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's (AHA/ASA) highest honors as Gold Plus Target Stroke in 2020.
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses was created to express gratitude. That is at the heart of my rationale for making this nomination of Donna and Trent. I celebrate all of the accomplishments that Trent and Donna have facilitated, the collaboration and partnership they have with all of you. I will never forget the extraordinary difference they make for our patients, families, and staff. I am filled with gratitude for our stellar leaders: Trent Heather and Donna Lindsay!!!!
