She calmly took charge of my desperate situation and constantly followed up with me, adjusting what needed to be adjusted. She was a huge advocate for my healing plan.
I would like to nominate Subu for the DAISY Award for the way she went above and beyond to change the trajectory of my healing process over the course of the night. When I first arrived at the unit, I was suffering from severe esophagitis, was vomiting regularly and violently, and was suffering from extreme pain, thus also dealing with extreme anxiety and panic. I was cycling through anti-nausea and pain meds, and nothing seemed to be working. On top of that, I was sleep-deprived and all around feeling very desperate and scared. When Subu came into my room and looked at my chart, she immediately did two things, calmed me down by making me take deep breaths, and then she employed several new, completely "outside the box" tactics to give me my first entire night where I did not vomit. She calmly took charge of my desperate situation and constantly followed up with me, adjusting what needed to be adjusted. She was a huge advocate for my healing plan. She was able to educate me enough that I could effectively communicate to my other nurses what was and was not working for me, and that was absolutely the turning point for me. I will forever be grateful for the relief I received from that point forward due to all the strategies Subu introduced that night.
