Sue has a presence with patients, putting them at ease as their treatment is planned.
I have observed Sue exhibiting compassionate care and adept clinical skills in working with Oncology patients over the past 15 years. Sue values continuing education as necessary to provide competent, safe care in this challenging department. Obtaining her BSN, Oncology Nursing Certifications, and radiation oncology knowledge, she promotes expert care. Most importantly, she shares her knowledge with new employees.
Seeing a need for nurse navigator services, she was instrumental in creating and fulfilling this role. She has a presence with patients, putting them at ease as their treatment is planned.
Sue's patient advocacy is demonstrated through many examples. She came in early on a holiday to give chemo that needed to be administered in a timely manner. Another time, she changed her personal plans and made a trip to another city to obtain an important medication for a patient.
Sue has a strong ability to connect with patients and families in stressful situations and I feel Sue is very deserving of the DAISY Award!
