My mother was a patient of Mercy Hospital and she was experiencing many complications in her life. One being the loss of her husband 25 days prior, contracting Influenza A, blood clot in her only leg she had left, loss of oxygen, congested heart failure and so many other things she was kicked with while she was down. Sue took it upon herself to explain thoroughly what we could expect from mom's condition. She spoke to three of us as the time, with more in route. She offered to speak to the rest of them when they arrived. The afternoon escalated past her normal work time. She was going to instruct another nurse about the scenarios of mother's condition, but kept in contact. I would say she took her job to heart. We were hoping to take mom home to die, but that evening she took her last breath.
I am a chaplain for a Hospice service. I can tell you it is not the same when it's your loved one laying on the bed as a patient. Thank you, Sue, for your care and dedication.
