Her care felt personal and heartfelt — not just excellent nursing, but real human kindness.
I am writing to share our experience with Nurse Sue and the exceptional care she showed my dad during his recent stay. I stayed with him almost the entire time from admission to discharge (one night excepted) and saw firsthand how every staff member treated him with calmness and kindness.

Sue stood out above all. She took time to listen to my dad’s concerns, even while rushing between patients, she found common ground with him (they talked about “picking”- buying and selling antiques) and used that connection to brighten his spirits.

His fever would spike in the afternoons, and he’d begin feeling terrible. One day, when he wasn’t feeling well, Sue pulled a harmonica from her pocket and played for him — he instantly smiled. It actually brightened the day for all of us. Those small, thoughtful acts made a huge difference.

Sue also went out of her way to help me navigate the patient portal when others couldn’t; she followed through on promises, checked in often with a warm smile, and treated my dad with genuine compassion. Her care felt personal and heartfelt — not just excellent nursing, but real human kindness.

We are deeply grateful to Sue and everyone at St. Mary’s for the care my dad received. I strongly recommend Sue for the DAISY Award in recognition of her compassion, attentiveness, and the comfort she brought to my dad during this time.

Thank you
