Sue was my nurse for several nights. She always has a smile on her face. Every night she would sneak in as quietly as possible in order to administer my complex nighttime infusions. She even noticed when my mom hadn't slept well and spoke in whispers leaving with a hushed "get some more rest." She memorized my med schedules and stuck to them so well that I rarely had to remind her, if at all. She worked to start my infusions sooner in the evening so I could get more sleep without interruptions. Sue always had a sense of humor and was ready for a good funny story. She followed excellent central line protocol and I was completely confident in her technique. I'm complex and it's not easy to care for me, but this nurse makes it look easy. I am forever grateful for her boundless energy, willingness to learn, and friendly demeanor. She is the kind of night nurse I don't mind waking me up because I know she has already tried her best to let me sleep and I always appreciate that.
