Sue received two nominating letters which were lengthly. She works nights as a charge nurse, leading her team through the good, bad and ugly situations. She is a strong patient advocate, putting the needs of the patient first. When she comes in at 7p and the staff to patient ratio is high, Sue sets up her own patient care area in order to get the patients out of the waiting room and under the watchful eyes of the staff. She is always concerned if patients are in the waiting room. On numerous occasions Sue can be seen holding, hugging, and crying with family members as they go through the worst day in their life. She can also be seen holding, hugging and weeping with staff that have been through what seems like the worst shift of their career.
Sue brings to nursing her empathy with patients. She is able to reach out to them and make a difference. One letter from a patient tells how Sue was able to facilitate their ability to get seizure medications for their daughter when no one else was able to get the job done.
