I look at my life differently now and I thank Sujatha for being there.
Sujatha is most worthy of this award. In fact, she should have something named after her, award-wise. Sujatha went above her job duties. I have always heard that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life. I believe she doesn’t work. Her compassion is stellar. When I was being transported from the emergency room to get a room, Sujatha was on my elevator going up. You could see the sparkle and smile in her eyes, radiating. She had her mask on, but I knew what was behind the mask. With everything going wrong in my life right now, she was the sunshine I needed. And guess what? Not only did she ride up on the elevator with me, but I was also blessed later to have her as my nurse. She would speak to me, and it was just like an angel speaking, watching over me.
When I was sick and vomiting, if she was in the room, she was rubbing my back. She stayed in my room after her shift was over and talked to me, opening my eyes to a lot. I am going to start a support group for those people with cancer to help in any way I can. She gave me sunshine when I was having a cloudy day. She listened to me. She talked to me. I look at my life differently now and I thank Sujatha for being there.
