Not only did she provide excellent medical care, but she also took extra time to offer emotional support, explaining procedures with patience and ensuring that both the patient and their family felt comforted and supported throughout their difficult experience.
On behalf of the Critical Care Unit team, we are thrilled to submit a heartfelt nomination for Sujeeta Maharjan for the prestigious DAISY Award. Sujeeta's exceptional dedication, leadership, and compassion have made her an invaluable asset to our unit, and it is with great pride that we put forth her nomination.
Over the past several years, Sujeeta has continuously demonstrated extraordinary skills and a deep sense of care that have earned her the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and the patients she serves. One of her key contributions has been her mentorship and leadership. She has worked closely with you and the rest of our critical care team to guide and mentor fellow nurses, particularly in chart documentation and titration processes. Her efforts were instrumental in our unit achieving flawless titration documentation during the Mock Survey, and she was also a key contributor to our PI Project on Critical Care Titration, which earned us the Silver Award at the Patient Safety Awareness Conference on March 12, 2025.
In addition to her professional excellence, Sujeeta’s ability to connect with patients on a personal level is remarkable. Her compassion and empathy have had a profound impact on the lives of those in our care. A recent example of this was shared with Mohammad El-Samra, RN, by a patient’s family, who praised Sujeeta for her exceptional care during an emotionally overwhelming time. Not only did she provide excellent medical care, but she also took extra time to offer emotional support, explaining procedures with patience and ensuring that both the patient and their family felt comforted and supported throughout their difficult experience. Her actions not only helped the patient but also made a lasting positive impression on the family, who felt reassured and treated as part of the healing process.
Her ability to remain calm under pressure and her proactive approach to problem-solving have significantly improved our unit’s overall performance. It’s evident that she not only cares for her patients but also invests in the success of her team
Furthermore, Sujeeta’s notable achievements are that she continues spearheading the implementation of the innovative CD2 program. With her unwavering commitment and expertise, she continues to guide and support all team members from drifting from the CD2 standard and our ICARE values. Her leadership in this endeavor not only improved the efficiency of our operations but also enhanced the quality of care we provide to our patients. Sujeeta’s willingness to step up and tackle challenges, no matter how daunting, sets her apart as a leader in our unit. Her selflessness, tireless work ethic, and dedication to patient care have made a significant impact, and we believe her contributions deserve recognition.
