Sumandeep Dhaliwal was nominated by a patient who was grateful for her kind, friendly and efficient care.
"Suman is only one person, but she counts for 1,000," her patient wrote in a nomination letter. "She is a wonderful woman who is very efficient. It is great to have her as a nurse. She is very kind and her smile brightens our day as we deal with our illnesses."
The patient appreciated that Sumandeep took the time to explain things and that she was especially sensitive to the fact that English was not her first language.
"I am monolingual Spanish speaking," the patient explained, "but kindness and friendliness transcend language barriers. Suman is able to connect with patients such as me to this level, regardless of language barriers."
The patient felt Sumandeep lifted her spirits during her hospital stay.
"With immense gratitude, thank you," the patient wrote. "Keep up the great work that you do with heart and passion."
