When called, Sumei dropped everything to not only come in to do this treatment, but she also allowed her fellow TM’s to come to watch her and be trained on the process as well.
Sumei goes above and beyond for our apheresis population. All of our outpatient Apheresis patients rave about how well she takes care of them. She is the go-to for our MDs who prescribe our apheresis treatments when they have any questions about prescribing the treatments. She is always willing to come in on her days off to help care for our apheresis patients, whether they be urgent or scheduled outpatient.
We have an outpatient apheresis patient that will call specifically to request that Sumei do his treatment if she is working because she has built a rapport and trust with that patient. In one instance, we received an urgent WBC exchange patient, and she was the only nurse on our team that was trained in how to do them because they are rare in our area. Sumei was off that day, and she had plans with her family. When called, Sumei dropped everything to not only come in to do this treatment, but she also allowed her fellow TM’s to come to watch her and be trained on the process as well. That is just one of the times that she has dropped everything to show up for her patients. She will rise to the occasion every time she is asked because she truly does put her patients first. In my opinion, she exemplifies what the nursing profession is all about.
