Sumer began to learn sign language in order to better interact with her patient and our loved one. It was greatly appreciated, along with her positive and compassionate spirit.
My Uncle was placed in the MICU after a medical emergency. He, along with his 2 brothers, his primary next of kin are deaf. Due to the challenges of the communication barrier between hearing and deaf individuals, I traveled from Indiana to assist. The first nurse we interacted with was Sumer. She was amazing and I want you to know how exceptional she is. As a 25-year veteran in the fire service, I have interacted with many healthcare professionals, Sumer is someone you want on your team. Always caring and very intelligent. Sumer is thoughtful, courteous, and very professional. We appreciated her care and eagerness to go the extra mile.

Clinically, she provided safe and effective care and explained assessments, care plans, actions, and evaluations thoroughly. She immediately recognized the importance of effective communication between her and my family. The interpreting service is of great value. However, Sumer began to learn sign language in order to better interact with her patient and our loved one. It was greatly appreciated, along with her positive and compassionate spirit. She went above and beyond. Many times, deaf people feel isolated and ignored. Sumer made us feel like family. Sumer is kind and gentle and really knows what she's doing. You're lucky to have her. Thank you for sending her our way!
