October 2021 Honoree
Summer Armstrong, NP
Summer Armstrong was made aware of a situation where a patient had been brought in by ambulance and had to leave his puppy unattended at home in his trailer in 100-degree weather. Staff spent two days calling neighbors, family, police, and animal control. All of the above were unable or unwilling to go check on the puppy. At this time, the puppy had been in the heat and without food and water for 3-4 days. Summer jumped to volunteer to help. While this wasn’t even her patient, she immediately left work, drove to the trailer, and rescued the puppy to take him home with her until the patient was discharged. The dog was so happy to see her. She went so above and beyond and deserves recognition.
Thank you, Summer, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
