Summer went above and beyond as she came to another unit and cared for a young child that was declining and awaiting a transfer out to a specialized hospital. She exemplified what a compassionate and caring nurse with excellent skills would do in a difficult and stressful situation. She reassured the child and his father, making them feel at ease. Summer empowered the staff nurse and helped her through a procedure, which allowed her to gain confidence and knowledge. She made a difference and set an example for the patient, family, and staff.
