Our dad had a brain aneurysm in October. Dad was in ICU and then moved to a neuro surgical floor, then was transported to VA to the acute rehab unit 4J. He was very weak and tired, struggling with memory and various other issues. We were so impressed with all the nurses on the unit. Summer Nguyen stood out. Summer provided exceptional care to our father. Summer always took time to talk with family when we were on the unit. She shared some of her own experiences of a family member struggling, too. Summer has a positive attitude and is very compassionate. Summer helped our family understand this process and what to expect. One time, my dad was feeling very sad, struggling with grief over the loss of his wife of 72 years, who had passed away 10 months prior. Summer came in and talked with him. She went above and beyond! She spent not just a couple of minutes but about 15 minutes comforting him! The things she said were so kind and caring, and it helped him so much. She was very honest, down-to-earth, and sincere!
