Sune Simpson, RN-BSN

Few nurses embody both the art and heart of nursing as completely as she does. Sune has a truly unique way of connecting with her patients and teammates. Whether it's through her gentle encouragement during a You Are My Sunshine Foley insertion or guiding patients in deep breathing to ease their pain, she brings both skill and compassion to every moment. I've often seen her take the extra time to sit and truly listen to her patients, an increasingly rare and deeply impactful gift.

One patient recently shared during leadership rounding that they felt spoiled being cared for by Sune, and I can't think of a better word. She provides not only expert care, but an experience of kindness and dignity that stays with people long after discharge. Sune's heart is enormous. She frequently goes beyond what is required, whether it's literally washing a patient's feet (reminding us that such gestures aren't just biblical but human and healing) or supporting her colleagues without hesitation.

If you're lucky, you might even catch one of her amazing homemade baked goods at Huddle, a simple but genuine reflection of her generosity and thoughtfulness. She also brings valuable ideas and perspectives to new initiatives in our unit. When I see her name on the schedule, I know we're all in for a better shift. Sune leads with humility, kindness, and deep dedication. 

I truly can't think of anyone who puts more of their heart into this work than Sune does. It is an honor to work beside her and witness the difference she makes every day.
