Sunjeeve's compassionate approach helped everyone believe that everything done for this infant was meaningful.
I have had the pleasure of working with Sunjeeve since 2005. He is an amazing clinician and person. He has a wealth of knowledge, deep compassion for his team-members and patients. He ensures that everyone has a voice and their concerns are addressed. When a conflict arises, he works veraciously to ensure an amenable resolution to the concerns of all interested parties. For, example the neonatal nurse practitioner group is constantly struggling with scheduling issues and he has offered many well-thought and considerate solutions to resolve the scheduling conflicts.
He is well-liked and regarded by the attending physicians. In one particular instance, recently an infant with a non-viable outcome was delivered. Another nurse practitioner responded and unfortunately, this practitioner and parents were not able to agree on a plan to ensure humane measures were afforded to this baby. The nurse practitioner involved the attending and the attending changed the direction of the previously agreed-upon plan. The nurse practitioner was upset and discussed the incident with Sunjeeve. Sunjeeve not only was able to talk with the attending, but with the parents, and a peaceful acceptable plan was agreed upon, and while the infant did have some painful procedures occur, Sunjeeve's compassionate approach helped everyone believe that everything done for this infant was meaningful.
When I work with Sunjeeve, the physician resident staff, respiratory therapist, and nurses are all immediately happy to know that they have such a trusted nurse practitioner available for them. While there are many different approaches when management decisions are needed, I have never witnessed anything but respect and kindness for the other team members.
He truly embodies the ideas of what it means to be a nurse practitioner and to carry out Loma Linda's mission. For these reasons, I believe that Sunjeeve is a true DAISY Nurse.
