I am writing about my experience at Sanford Health while being a patient there for 2 days. I have to say I loved my nurses! I had colon surgery and they never made me feel embarrassed because of my condition.
They were outstanding in taking care of me. They never made me feel like a burden. They took the time to explain things to me like tell me the medication they were giving me. They were so friendly and took the time to talk to me. They had patience with me when my nose hurt so bad. I even yelled at Blaine (I later apologized) but he never took it personally. He was so amazing. They went above and beyond to get me the medical care I needed. I hated leaving the hospital that day because I knew I would never see them all again and it made me sad. I have spent many nights in the hospital and never before had I had such compassionate care. They didn't rush in and rush out of the room. They took the time to get to know me just a little. To meet nurses of this caliber is rare. Their personalities, although different, were so kind and very rare to find.
I sincerely hope Blaine and the other nurse's aide get into medical college. I think they will make great doctors because they took the time to make me feel comfortable and really cared about. They listened to me and took the time to listen. It may be their jobs, but they didn't have to be so nice to me. They shared with me and I felt like I was family to them. I thank God for the team I had. I wanted to bring treats and a thank you note but have not been able to get up there just yet. I am still recovering and having some heart tests now.
I have had many surgeries, and never have I had such a wonderful experience. Some nurses just do their job and move on. These nurses, each and every one of them shared with me like I was a friend and that just made me feel so wonderful and actually safe. I knew if anything happened, they would be there to take care of me and that is worth more than I can put into words. I hope if I ever have to come back to Sanford overnight, I get the same nurses. Way to go to restore my faith in humanity.
Thank you all for going above and beyond when I know you didn't have to. These are exceptional people and should be recognized for the amazing care they gave me while I was there.
I can tell you any more customer service is a laughing joke for people my age. But for these people, it was customer service above what I would have expected. I know about Karen's dog. I know Blaine wants to go to Canada. I know that the other patient Tech plans on going back to Minnesota. You see you do not normally get these personal things and it just made me feel like I was in the middle of family and that they would take care of me no matter what. I've been in the hospital in Phoenix, Sioux Falls, and Minneapolis. I've been in many different ER's and no one came close to these nurses. Like I said the caliber of these nurses is rare; the kindness the compassion, the ability to make me feel like everything was going to be okay was priceless. When you're in the hospital and you're nervous about your stitches and you're nervous about whether or not you're going to heal correctly, these people made me feel comfortable and taken care of. They gave me a sense of peace while I was at the hospital. People who are never recognized give up trying and I hope none of these nurses ever do; they are someone special!
