I have no doubt that if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be writing this.
There is a long list of people that I think deserve recognition for their kind, warm, and wonderful care as they took care of me. From nurses to housekeeping to dietary. There was one nurse I bonded with on a previous visit and when I returned, Ann made me feel safe. She is my guardian angel and helped me through my rough moments. All nurses should strive to be like her. I had a setback and 2 other nurses, Melissa and Kristy, noticed I was failing fast. Their skill, caring, and knowledge literally saved my life. I have no doubt that if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be writing this.

Melissa was a real advocate for me. After surgery, Virginia took care of me. I was kind of out of it but really hungry. She kept bringing me different foods until something finally appealed to me. The next morning, a nurse who wasn’t even assigned to me, Lisa, brought me a coffee. Two mornings after that she saw me and brought me a coffee just the way I like it without even asking. It touched me that she remembered. Rachel took the time to have conversations with me which is so important when you can’t have family or visitors.

There were many LNAs who were also great. I had to have a lot of pillows and Katlin knew exactly how I liked them. Even if she wasn’t my LNA on a particular day she would come in to check on me. Others that I encountered, lab, X-ray, CT scan, PT, Respiratory, were all wonderful. I am so grateful to all that took part in my care. In these times with COVID, being in the hospital for a prolonged time can be lonely and scary. I felt cared for and part of the RRMC family and that meant a lot to me. I will never forget how wonderful everyone was.
