I would like to recognize a team of collaborative caregivers for their exemplary performance during a stressful situation. In our Surgical Services Department, Stephanie Pendergrass, Stephanie Morgan, Melissa West, Michelle Strain, Lisa Alfredson, Joann Webber, and Penny Malin cared for a patient who required immediate attention that led to a positive outcome.
The patient had an outpatient procedure and no complications were expected. During a routine assessment, the team realized that the patient required intervention and acted swiftly to attain the assistance necessary to provide emergent care to the patient. Dr. Franks, Missie Taylor, and Janice Hannah came in response to the called Rapid Response and all disciplines worked efficiently to care for the patient. The team engaged the significant other in conversation, keeping him informed of all actions throughout the event.
The clinical expertise and critical thinking of this team were evident as they moved efficiently to revive the patient and support them to a return to baseline. The entire team acted compassionately and professionally throughout the entire event, working as a cohesive unit to attain a positive, patient-centered outcome.
