Not sure there are enough words to describe how wonderful Susan is, not only as a nurse but as a person in general. Being by my mother’s side for 10 days, I observed her not only taking care of patients but also always stepping up to help her coworkers as well.
She would always greet anyone who came on the floor with her beautiful smile. No matter whom she was talking to, the top doctor of the hospital or someone delivering a meal tray, she would call them by their name and say hello. Susan always communicated anything that was going on with my mom, from medications to testing ordered. No matter how many questions or concerns, she was always there to help and never made me feel like she was too busy for us.
My mom has advanced dementia and can be difficult at times. Susan was always so patient with her and had a smile on her face. My mom didn’t have anything done to her eye, but swore she had an auto mechanic do eye surgery on her eye. Susan just giggled and reassured her that she would be okay. Susan made my long days a little brighter and was always there to listen to my vents.
My granddaughter always talks about being a vet when she grows up. After visiting Mom in the hospital, she now wants to be a nurse like Ms. Susan. I really hope she grows up to be sweet, caring, compassionate, and have a huge, loving heart like Ms. Susan, no matter what career she chooses.
Thank you so much for being so amazing as a person, nurse, and role model.
