We had a Code Pink in the Emergency Department, and I called the Special Care Nursery to come down. Susan came down well-prepared with the code cart. I asked the pediatrician if he would like for the Special Care Nursery nurse, Susan, to stay at the bedside as he really wanted her to be present. She volunteered to come and stay at the bedside and help the patient, the doctor, and the family. It was during shift change and Susan stayed long after her shift with them until the flight team came to transport the patient.

Susan is a great resource to Genesis. She always looks after her team, patients, and their families. She makes sure staff puts their retirement as a priority. As a new nurse that is young, this doesn’t seem to be a priority, but it is. She always is willing to help and educate everyone. I enjoy having Susan as my co-worker. She is awesome! She is very knowledgeable and I am glad that she is a part of our team. I also want to thank her for being there for that patient and staying after when she didn’t have to.
