Susan is an amazing nurse on the med/telemetry unit. She is a mentor and a role model for many of our new staff. I am so grateful she is on our team.
We had a patient who came to us from her assisted living home because of "combative behavior" with staff. This patient had no real medical issues but stayed on the unit because we could not find placement and her family did not want to be involved. The entire nursing staff took this patient underwing and cared for her despite her continued combative behavior.
One of our nurses, Susan Clawson, went above and beyond to give exceptional care. At Christmas, she brought her a new nightgown to wear so she wouldn't have to wear a hospital gown. The patient would refuse to shower but when Susan was on she could convince her to shower. For over 10 weeks, the patient stayed with us and when a home was found, Susan made sure she was showered, hair cleaned, and even polished her nails as the patient needed to go on an airplane to her new home.
Susan truly made a difference in this woman's life and I am inspired by the care and attention that she gave this very challenging patient.
