I believe that Sue Hammons exemplifies many of the characteristic criteria that every DAISY Award recipient should have. She shows compassion and embraces a collaborative approach to patient care, which makes it easier for physicians to complete our tasks.
To describe a specific instance where I felt she deserves special recognition would not do her work ethic justice, as I feel that it is more important to show a high standard of care on a daily basis. She is always responsive and compassionate to her patients, she takes the time to know her patients well, and during physician rounding is able to answer most of the questions posed to her even if she just received handoff.
Providing a high standard of care at our institution deserves more recognition than any specific instance and to me that speaks volumes of the character and work ethic she shows daily.
