We believe that Susan Holloway is a great candidate for the DAISY Award because of her kind heart, dedication, compassion and tenacity. Not only do we feel fortunate having her as an integral part of our care team we feel honored to work with a nurse who exemplifies professionalism and pride in her work.
Susan and the social worker, Jodi Castle, were working on discharge planning for a homeless patient. He a came in with a head injury and was found to have open wounds on his feet. He had no clean clothes or adequate shoes to put on once discharged. Susan and Jodi found him some clean clothes to wear but were not able to find him shoes. We all chipped in to buy him a pair at a local thrift store. They went during their own lunch hour break and brought him back a very nice pair of tennis shoes. We were so happy that this patient would now have the proper foot wear that would allow his wounds to heal. They went above and beyond and for that we are grateful and fortunate to have such caring and compassionate coworkers.
