January 2017 Honoree
susan krider, RN
My husband was in the final stages of heart failure when we were introduced to Susan Krider, RN. At this time she started to teach us about the LVAD and how it worked. Susan helped make all his pre-op doctor's visits for the next 6 weeks and she continued with our instructions of the VAD unit. Susan was at his bedside at 6 AM until after 9 PM that night when his surgery was over. She texted me all through the lengthy surgery on how the procedure was going. My husband has had many post-op setbacks and Susan is always there to go with him to many procedures outside of his hospital room. She came in at midnight after two different strokes that he had to have surgery for. Susan went with us to visit the rehab hospital that my husband will go to and she will come to check on him when he's there. Susan has been there for me to cry on and as my husband's greatest cheerleader. She has gone way beyond being a nurse. Susan is a gift from God for our family.
Thank you, Susan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
