As a bladder cancer patient at the VA hospital in Little Rock, my journey hasn't been easy. But amidst the challenges, Susan Simmers, RN, stood out as an exceptional nurse. Susan's care went beyond just doing her job. She was there for me in the toughest moments, showing genuine compassion and expertise. From managing infections to easing pain, she handled it all with skill and kindness. What set Susan apart was her human touch. She saw me as more than just a patient—she treated me with dignity and respect, offering support when I needed it most. I'm nominating Susan for the DAISY Award because she embodies everything a nurse should be: caring, dedicated, and truly compassionate. Her impact on my journey was profound, and I'm grateful for her exceptional care.
