March 2025 Honoree
Susan Maddron, RN
Susan has been with VA for almost, or in fact forty years, and I heard recently of her imminent retirement. Several times over the years, Susan has stood out as an exceptionally caring nurse and extremely attentive to the needs of Veterans' specific situations. Susan has aided me in expediting a colonoscopy due to my worry of a return of colon cancer, or the time I was prepping for hernia surgery, and Susan saw me on my way to pre-surgical, and later on her break came up to make sure I was ok and comfortable and got me a warm blanket. Another time, when I had a kidney stone and Susan was working in Urology and found out I had been admitted and came to my floor to check in on me. I've observed that while in a waiting area, Susan pays close attention to veterans' concerns and questions and follows up with the veterans. She is an asset to the VA and will surely be missed by all who had the pleasure of her attendance.
Thank you, Susan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
