Sue has been with the Children's Hospital for 26 years and counting! She is not only an exceptional Charge Nurse, where I have been gifted to work alongside her, but is also an Oncology Nurse, Preceptor, and a Certified Pediatric Nurse. While she works with families in a calm, professional, and collected manner, she is also a favorite of her coworkers.
It's one thing to positively impact families, but quite another when you can positively impact and connect with other families and your co-workers. She is a special asset to the Children's Hospital. She is a sentry, always having Sanford's best interests (and best practices) at the forefront of her nursing duty. She is a healer, expanding her skills to Oncology patients and devoting her skills to Pediatrics. Through her well-deserved role of Charge Nurse, she acts as a guide to other departments, families, nurses, HUC's/aides, etc. Numerous times I've seen her as a Preceptor and I only hope to one day be as lucky as they, to have her as my Preceptor, to learn from her expertise and vast experiences. But perhaps most importantly, Sue is a great collaborator; she helps everyone on the floor. When I was learning my new role, she had patience, knowledge, and understanding. She's a role model. Through her leadership, she inspires others on a regular basis. She is truly an exceptional nurse. She inspires me to be the best I can be, and others as well. She's a true DAISY Nurse!
