In August when my husband was having his infusion and I was having blood work done, Susan asked my husband who had driven him to his appointment. He told her that I, his wife, had driven him and was having some blood work done. Susan asked if everything was alright and he mentioned that my potassium was low. When I joined them in the Infusion Center, Susan inquired about my potassium level and I told her it was 2.4. Susan then enlightened me on just how important potassium was to the body. The next day my doctor called and said that my level had dropped to 2.3 and I should get to the hospital so that they could get my level up to where it should be.
While I was in the hospital after 5 bags of Potassium, my level continued to drop to 2.2 and the healthcare team wanted to do a CT scan to check my kidneys. That scan showed that I had a bleed behind my pancreas.
If Susan had not stressed how important potassium was, I would not have gone to the hospital and I would not have been where I needed to be when the bleed started. So, in a few words, "Susan saved my life". She is a true DAISY Nurse.
