Susan Peak was described by her professors as a great listener, someone who is always curious and asks well thought-out questions, a caring and empathetic practitioner, a team player—she stood out as a student who goes above and beyond to provide compassionate care for her patients during clinical. She is always looking for something else she could do for someone, or something else she could learn about. Susan is outstanding in clinical and grasps the art of working in interprofessional teams. Susan is passionate about caring for others. In her final reflection paper, Susan wrote that nursing school allowed her “…to gain more knowledge about the impact of our actions in the healthcare environment and the terrible consequences of systems without sentries like ourselves.” Susan Peak is an excellent sentry in the healthcare system, particularly on behalf of the most vulnerable.
