... I was being induced at 7am for the birth of my daughter. Things were pretty busy already in the labor wing and Sue was just able to swoop in and check me in. She came in the room later in the morning and said, "lets start over, I'm Sue." She shook my hand and was incredibly personable. She wanted to know all about the birth of our first daughter, she asked if I had any fears. By the afternoon she still hadn't even had breakfast and chose to eat her orange in the hall while asking my husband and me about our families. She sat on the edge of my tub and talked to me about how to handle the birth pain while I took my bath. She was like a dear friend, she knocked over my ice water hiding behind the curtain into my bath but it was some welcomed laughter between contractions. The best part of having Sue was when times got difficult during the labor, I was all alone and she would come in and talk to me, and hold me while I got my epidural and she even managed to text my husband from my phone when I was frantic for his presence, he was at the cafeteria with our older daughter. He made it for the birth but it was Sue I kept making eye contact with because she would nod her head knowingly at me and her eyes shone with such hope and excitement. Although I'm sure she's been through that magic many times before she treated me so special! I will never forget her kindness.
