usan ensures that her staff’s needs and concerns are communicated and escalated to the senior leadership and appropriate departments.
Susan made a significant impact on the entire staff and interdisciplinary team in our unit. Even when she was initially a covering manager, she found time to communicate and respond to our immediate needs. Much more now that she is our official manager, she’s more accessible, available, and even helps out on the unit as needs arise. She joins us during the morning huddle and learns about our patients during our change-of-shift handoff. She regularly rounds on the unit and interacts with our patients.

She communicates regularly with the team by having regular monthly staff meetings and initiating our UBC. She responds promptly and advocates for what is best for us especially getting resources, most importantly a much improved staffing. Susan ensures that her staff’s needs and concerns are communicated and escalated to the senior leadership and appropriate departments. Since she took over as our manager, the morale of the unit has improved. She addressed issues accordingly and, as a result, inspires and fosters better teamwork, communication, and collaboration among the interdisciplinary team. She’s empowering all the staff to work on initiatives and quality projects that would further improve our practice and patient outcomes based on current literature, evidence-based practice, and research. She guides nursing staff to enhance our problem-solving skills and encourages us to utilize our critical thinking. She supports our ideas and empowers us to share and utilize our best potential.
