Susan has always been a hard worker. She's the type who likes to make sure she dots her I's and crosses her T's. She has done an amazing job at making sure things run smoothly. She has re-arranged and re-labeled just about the entire patient kitchen to make it easier for anyone coming in. You can now see exactly what you have and where as well as what you are running low on. This makes it easier for all of us involved to keep the kitchen stocked properly so that the patients can truly benefit from what we have to offer to make their stay at our facility as comfortable as possible.
When it comes to her chart audits, she is instrumental in making sure that the other nurses are aware and understand what is required, allowed and expected in regard to proper documentation. She can always be spotted giving instructions or assistance to the incoming nurse to make shift changes seamless. She is always mindful not to leave "a mess" for the next shift to clean up so they don't start their shift already feeling behind.
She is quick to help assist on the ER side when there are no inpatients for her to tend to. She is awesome and giving patients aftercare instructions and ensuring they understand their medical needs and what they need to ensure happens with their care after discharge.
I met Susan for the first time when I myself was admitted into the Mansfield facility. She was very kind and informative. From the patient perspective, she was an excellent nurse and made sure I was comfortable and had what I needed. She stayed on top of my meds and answered all my questions as well as made sure that I understood what she was telling me. I felt very well cared for during my stay.
We need more nurses like Susan who are proactive and self-motivating. It's those individuals that insight changes and come up with better ways to care for our patients and make our facilities stand out from the rest. When I think of expecting good care and receiving better than I expected, Susan is who comes to mind.
