Susana continued to assist by organising help and things after I was released, checking in, and genuinely supporting my family and me through a difficult time.
Hello, I have been under, and continue to be under care, for oesophageal cancer. I have done chemotherapy, radio, surgery, had dilatations to my new version of an esophagus, then a metal stent, and immunotherapy during this. I'm currently still on immunotherapy. The reason I message is I did not know there was a nomination for an award. My nurse, Susana, who works tirelessly across your hospital trust, has gone above and beyond for not just me, but also my family. Be it taking phone calls, emailing back when off work to assure my mother, answering questions, visiting me during my three-week stay in ITU due to complications from surgery, sorting things out for me in hospital, or visiting after she finished a full day of work when I was back in hospital for four days alone and depressed to assure me about things. Susana listened to me discuss a difficult breakup with my ex-girlfriend, and other family issues, despite not being my therapist. She continued to assist by organising help and things after I was released, checking in, and genuinely supporting my family and me through a difficult time. Now still I have complications, and she has new patients as well as long-term, and she still helps. During this time she has had her own issues with illness too, but honestly, we would have not made it through this without her. I have countless examples of individual times Susana has made a meaningful difference in my care.
