Susanna Olson, RN, was presented with a DAISY award because of her caring actions for a patient who was in the Emergency Department. A patient had traveled from Indiana to be near her son, because she has end stage CA with only about 2-3 weeks left to live. Her son had planned to take her to Maine for lobster, because this was on her bucket list to do before she died. Unfortunately she needed to be admitted and trip to Maine had to be cancelled. Susanna Olson sent a volunteer to a local restaurant to pick up a lobster/clam dinner for the patient. Susanna paid for the dinner and set up the patient's tray table like a restaurant table. The patient was so touched and emotional and couldn't have been happier or more appreciative. This was such a wonderful gesture by a nurse for a patient with only one simple wish.
