Susannah Sharp, RN

Susannah was the primary RN for a comfort care patient. The patient's daughter was having trouble accepting that her father was dying. When we came on shift, the daughter was frightened and upset. She sat in the patient's room with the daughter and the patient for 6+ hours. She stayed by their side while the father declined and then peacefully passed.

She provided comfort, reassurance, and context for the situation. The patient's daughter expressed that her special touch and compassionate care transformed the experience for her. She was upset and grieving after her father passed, but she also expressed how grateful she was to have gone through the experience with someone as special, kind, and knowledgeable as her.
